Upon his birth, Cedriss’ family lovingly called him C.O.P., which stands for Child of Promise, as he was an unexpected gift to his parents who, for 14 years, believed they were unable to conceive a child.In his home, you would hear the sounds of Kompa (Haitian ), R&B and hip-hop played regularly. R&B became his favorite genre of music, in particular the music of Marvin Gaye and Michael Jackson, and he’d find himself singing their songs and mimicking their sound. By the time he was 12 years old, Cedriss realized that he possessed exceptional vocal skills and was singing and rapping all the time; either to songs he heard on the radio or songs he would make up himself. He was also beginning to hone in on his skills as a writer, and wrote a song titled, “My Gun,” a song describing the lifestyle of a young man influenced by life in the ghetto.
